The Stones of Casanova

Vert de Venise Contemporary Art is currently exhibiting an intriguing selection of works on paper by Anton Litvin, The Stones of Casanova. Working in the beguiling technique of frottage, the artist has taken impressions of walls and paving in Prague and Venice, bringing to life the built environment where Casanova Iived, celebrating the exploits and achievements of the renowned lover, adventurer, traveller and fugitive. The principal works in frottage are complemented by a collection of exquisitely colourised profile portraits of Giacomo Casanova, and commemorative medallions set in small blocks of masonry from Chateau Duchcov, his home for the last 13 years of his life.
