We were delighted to take part in the 10th edition of The Venice Glass Week with The Glass Library: Venetian Trilogy, an installation conceived and designed by Katia Margolis and made by Davide Barbini at Zanetti, our longtime collaborators in Murano.
The installation brings together three glass books—Peace, Reflection, and Freedom. Rooted in the history and material character of Venice, each explores a different way of seeing through glass: transparency, reflection, and fluidity.
Peace — The Celestial Book
Almost invisible in its transparency, Peace projects the words PAX TIBI, associated with the open book of the Lion of Saint Mark. Each letter occupies a separate glass page. The inscription becomes legible only when the pages align, making peace something formed through attention, position, and light.
Reflection — The Terrestrial Book
Standing upright, Reflection has mirrored covers and transparent inner pages. Its surface gathers images of the surrounding city and its viewers. Looking beyond that surface, through the book’s interior, invites a deeper kind of perception.
Freedom — The Aquatic Book The open, wave-like pages of Freedom evoke the movement of the lagoon. As light passes through the glass and the viewer changes position, the work changes too. Its pages remain unwritten, leaving space for each person to find a path across them.
All three works found homes with different private collectors over the opening night and the days that followed. We thank Camilla Purdon and the Venice Glass Week team for their generous work on this edition.
